It’s Friday and the weekend is finally here. There are big things going on in our local community with the opening of the famous State Fair of Texas taking place today. There are so many visitors in town and it’s just a great time to meet new people and to enjoy some fun rides, food, games, prizes, shows, and always the car show in the automobile building. There will also be excitement this weekend with the exciting Grambling vs. Prairie View A&M football game this weekend along with the battle of the bands that everyone looks forward to watching and listening to and determine the winner is of the battle. I’m always amazed at the level of choreography that goes into putting on elaborate shows like this where bands dance and play their instruments at the same time while doing very complex formations. It is so amazing the amount of time that the band and band directors spend preparing for performances and for big events such as this. Crowds of people always come from miles away to take a glimpse at Big Tex and to hear his famous “Howdy Folks.” I just love this time of the year and it means that we are definitely in the season of fall even though it’s still in the 90s here. I couldn’t ask for more. I am looking forward to a great weekend of meeting new people and enjoying some quality family time. I can’t forget that college football will be in full game on mode this weekend as well. Fun times!! Have a great weekend!
