It Was Right There All the Time

Life can be filled with joy, great times, sorrow, and challenging times.  One thing that is definitely present in most situations is that people tend to come together in times of crisis and difficulty.  When there is a natural disaster or some other tragic event that impacts a community, human nature just takes over and the amount of people who want to help those in need is incredible.  Helping others in need is just embedded in the hearts of people and when something happens, the emotions take over and the assistance that the impacted area and people receive is just beyond words sometimes.  Take a look at the events of the horrible flooding that we just experienced in the Texas area.  Hundreds of areas were declared disaster areas and the amount of support from people and organizations outside the region was so extensive. 

When we look at the amount of support that is given during times of challenge and disaster, it really puts a true meaning on the word neighbor and community.  Even though at times we may not see our neighbors daily, when something happens, it’s amazing how everyone comes together for a common goal.  The love and care that people show towards one another was there all the time.  Challenging times tend to bring out the best in others and when everyone comes together, great things happen.  Let’s not wait until a tragic event takes place before we reach out and get to know our neighbors and the people in our community.  Have a wonderful day!
