On yesterday, I wrote about the loss of a family friend and church musician, Brandon Harris. The pain of his death was very difficult to cope with on yesterday, but today, I feel different. Today, I went around telling people how much they meant to me and stated that the "spirit of Brandon" was upon me today and that I made it a point to tell people thank you for what they've done to me no matter how great or small.
I decided to send out a couple of emails to some of my co-workers and their supervisors giving them kudos for something extra they did for one of my projects I work on without even asking them to do it. They took it upon themselves to do what they thought was something small, which in turn became something very important for our audit trail. Their supervisors were quite thrilled to read an email of thanksgiving to their employee. They in turn sent a nice little note to their employees thanking them for a job well done.
One of my co-workers that I sent the little note to came over to my desk and was in tears. She stated that she was just doing her job and no one ever says thank you. I told her that that changes today and that I'm going to let people know when they've done something for me and I will let their bosses know that they've gone the extra mile.
After she left my office, I just had chills and a huge smile on my face. All I could say was that this is what Brandon would do. He would encourage you no matter what and tell you to keep pressing forward. Today I was shedding tears of pain and sorrow. Today I'm at peace with a calm spirit and showing other people just how much they mean to me. Have a wonderful day everyone!
