Recent Study Shows the Serious Nature of Identity Theft. Don't Be a Victim

A recent 2015 study produced by Wallethub offers some very startling statistics in regards to identity thefts and the states that are the most vunerable to this horrific crime.  The holiday shopping season sees an elevated level of identity theft reports and claims as well as security breaches at various merchants both in-store and online and even with the government on the federal, state, county, and city levels.  Identity thieves are getting more and more sophisticated and it is making it very difficult to stop them in their tracks because they are becoming more and more unable to detect and find with all the latest advances they have available as far as technology is concerned.  For many identity thieves, they don't even need sophisticated equipment.  A piece of mail from your mailbox is all that some identity thieves need to inflict havoc in the lives of millions.

Statistics show that the top 10 states that are the most vulnerable to identity theft and fraud include the following states.  The states are numbered in the order of most to least vulnerable based on various factors used.

  1. District of Columbia
  2. Florida
  3. Nevada
  4. California
  5. Arizona
  6. Georgia
  7. Washington
  8. Delaware
  9. Texas
  10. Illinois
It is so sad that we live in a day and time where we have to be concerned about someone stealing our personal information when we shop or go to the doctor, even going to church.

This list is pretty extensive and all 50 states encounter specific levels of identity thefts and cases of fraud.  The good news is that there are companies that offer the protection that each and every one of us need to have just like we have car insurance, home insurance, and health insurance.
