World Events Really Make Special Occasions Mean Even More

With the events that are going on both domestically and internationally, it really makes special occasions mean even more.  Today is one of those days.  As I continue to watch the coverage of the horrific tragedy that unfolded right before our eyes with the news crew being killed on live TV, I can’t help but to feel an elevated level of sympathy for the families and friends.  They lost a family member and a friend and it just makes me want to hold my loved ones a little bit closer and tighter to me.
That’s why on today, I am reaching out to my family members and friends and letting them know how much I care about them.  It started with a special phone call I made to my one and only brother.  Today is his 50th birthday.   Words cannot express what a blessing this is to see my big brother and also my twin separated by almost 9 years turn the big 5-0.  It’s weird how we grow up as kids and then one day, we’re full grown adults.  Where does the time go?  We had a great conversation and we joked about when we were kids and all the stuff we got into.  It’s hard to believe that he’s now 50 and I’m 40.  This is my only brother and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate this day than to tell him with my own voice, not through a text or email that I love him and that’s just what I did.
Let’s all try to share love across the way because life is just so precious and can be taken away in the blink of an eye.  I love you big brother Mark!!  Here’s to a wonderful day.  Go give someone a smile.  It’s free!
