A Week of Celebrations Gives New Insight on Life

This past week was filled with celebrations in my family.  The week started off with Mother’s Day and my nephew’s first wedding anniversary.  On Friday night, my niece graduated with a Master’s Degree in Taxation.  On Saturday, my parents celebrated 56 years of wedded bliss.  On yesterday, my sister celebrated her 43rd birthday.  Talk about celebration after celebration.  Even though I am a little exhausted, I would not have traded this entire week for anything.  To celebrate everyone this week, we had a family get together at my nephew’s new home and it was just a time of enjoying family, friends, so great food, and fellowship.  Having everyone together from the various sides of the family really gave me new insight on life.  I’ve known many of these individuals for several years, but I made it a point to really sit and talk to them to get to know them.  For instance, my sister-in-law and her family were all there and she has been married to my brother for almost 28 years.  This was the first time that I made it a point to get to know her on a different level and we had the best conversation along with her mother and her sister.  Just a great time of fellowship and connecting.  Connecting is the subject matter that our pastor is teaching on for the past couple of weeks.  I thought that this was a good opportunity to connect and it paid off.  I learned some very interesting things about many individuals who were in attendance and it just gave me more focus to what I’m working towards in my own personal life.  What a great week and I’m looking forward to an even better week this week.  There are not as many celebrations this week, but I count each and every day that I’m alive as a reason to celebrate.  Here’s to a wonderful day!
