A Day of Remembrance and Thanks to Our Military, Public Service Workers, and Their Families

Today we observe Memorial Day.  For millions of people, this is a very difficult day because they have lost loved ones in the military, police and fire departments.  It is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have fallen in the line of duty and to remember them for those sacrifices. Our military and public service employees put their lives on the line every single day for us so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have available to enjoy and take part in.  It is so difficult to watch the news reports of fallen soldiers and public service employees when one has passed away and left behind a loving family which includes small children.  It is heartbreaking to see the images of children crying at the sight of their parent’s casket and not understanding why their father or mother will not be coming home.
Let us not forget those who are sacrificing their lives each day for us on this Memorial Day.  My company is actually participating in the “Carry the Load” project this year.  When we had a company meeting and the founder came and spoke to us and broke down into tears when he spoke about some of his fallen soldier friends and family members and why he started “Carry the Load,” it truly put an emphasis on Memorial Day and brought all of us to tears.
On today while we are gathering with family and friends, let’s take a few minutes to say “thank you” to a veteran, current military, their family members, and the police and fire departments in our local communities.  Have an awesome day!
